Not Quite Electric Cup - 9.5cm / 3.7in High
Not Quite Electric Cup: 3.7in (9.5cm) High x 3.9in (10cm) Wide
This piece was thrown by me on a pottery wheel using stoneware clay. It was then allowed to slowly dry to a "leather hard" state, where I refined the final shape with a pottery trimming tool. After another slow-drying period to allow the piece to achieve "bone dry", the piece was bisque-fired (a low-temp firing to enable handling without easily breaking, but still pourous enough to absorb glaze). At this point the surface was meticulously taped over many (sometimes many, many) hours, glazed by hand, set to dry again, and then the tape was removed. After a round of glaze touch-up and (almost) final clean-up, it was fired in a ceramic kiln to over 2,100F (1,100C) ...it's a process!
Thank you! - Mat
